Located next to Torremolinos, Benalmadena is also one of the best known and most important beach resorts on the Costa del Sol.The old center, "Benalmadena-Pueblo", is surprisingly not situated at the sea, but a few miles inland and 300 meters above sea level. Here we find a traditional and typical Andalusian village with narrow streets and whitewashed houses, which has remained largely untouched by tourism. Thanks to the relatively high altitude, it offers a splendid view over the coast. On the other hand Benalmadena-Costa, which is located directly at the beach, offers everything you could wish for a beach holiday: there are many hotels of all categories, restaurants, shops, boutiques and, of course, bars, night clubs and discotheques. Furthermore, Benalmadena has a very beautiful yacht harbor. The huge leisure offer is still enhanced by several amusement parks: "Tivoli", "Selwo Marina" and "Sea Life". Next to the town there are several golf courses which attract many visitors even outside the summer season. The Costa del Sol is generally considered a paradise for golf enthusiasts who come all year round thanks to the excellent climate. But during the summer season it is definitely the marvelous and clean sandy beaches which attract most visitors. Combined with the incredible sports and leisure facilities and excellent Andalusian cuisine, they make Benalmadena one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. |
