MIJAS

Mijas, one of the most popular beach resorts on the Costa del Sol is actually made up of two towns: Mijas Pueblo, the old part, is situated on a steep slope at the foot of the mountain range Sierra de Mijas, about 400 meters above sea level.

Mijas Pueblo is a typical Andalusian village, which has largely preserved its authenticity Foto and a visit is highly recommended also to beach tourists. Many foreigners, many of them artists, have settled here and are delighted by the pleasant climate and relaxed lifestyle, just a few kilometers from the bustling beach.

The modern seaside resort of Mijas Costa, situated at the beautiful sandy beach, has been built around the old fishing village of Cala de Mijas. Some of the old town is still conserved, and you can enjoy the typical Andalusian ambience. This is especially true when regional festivals are celebrated: during the summer months the "Noches de Luna y Playa" (Nights of Moon and Beach) take place on the beach promenade. Classical music and flamenco, wonderful little tapas (typical Spanish snacks) and plenty of sherry wine invite you to have a ball.

Mijas has a total of about 12 kilometers of beach, and as everywhere along the Costa del Sol these are beautiful sandy beaches: El Chaparral, La Cala, El Combo and Calahonda.

Along the beaches there are hotels of all categories, but also apartment houses and holiday homes, and of course many restaurants and bars. There are also excellent sports and leisure facilities, with golf courses and all kinds of water sports.
