ROQUETAS DE MAR

Roquetas de Mar is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the entire Mediterranean coast, and not only has a great climate and beautiful sandy beaches, but also a rich cultural and leisure offering. This beautiful town is located directly at the sea and surrounded by mountains, the beaches with a length of 13 km are flanked by a beach promenade with palm trees Foto.

The beaches of Roquetas are well equipped and very well maintained, with crystal clear water, and have obtained numerous awards such as the "blue flag" or the "Q de Calidad Turística".

Most crowded during the summer season, but also offering the best facilities, are the beaches of Aguadulce, La Romanilla, Urbanización Roquetas de Mar and La Bajadilla.

The only completely wild and unspoilt beach in the area is "Playa de Cerrillos" with a length of 3400 meters, located in the nature reserve Punta Entinas-Sabinar. It is known in particular as a paradise for divers.

Relatively quiet are also the beaches of "Playa de Los Bajos" and "La Ventilla", where usually a quite fresh wind blows. This makes them ideal for windsurfing.

Roquetas de Mar has excellent sports and leisure facilities, a marina, the golf course "Playa Serena", the biggest Aqua-Zoo of Andalusia and the water park "Las Salinas".

Many of the cultural events in Roquetas take place at quite unusual locations: in the castle "Castillo de Santa Ana," the lighthouse "El Faro", which is often used for exhibitions, and in the bullring, where regularly crowded concerts take place.

In the nature park "Entinas-Sabinar" Foto which is between Roquetas de Mar and Almerimar live many rare species of birds. The adjacent natural beaches "Playas de Punta Entinas" are ideal for those seeking solitude.
